News Iowa Health System, Allscripts create e-prescribing network 10/16/2009 Source: HealthImaging.com Iowa Health System and Allscripts have launched a new partnership this week called ePrescribe Iowa--an initiative attempting to convert a majority of the state’s physicians from paper prescriptions to e-prescribing. The initiative will offer a free Web-based e-prescribing solution to physicians throughout Iowa, as well as personalized outreach and one-on-one training by “electronic healthcare ambassadors” to help physicians make the transition, according to Chicago-based Allscripts and Iowa Health. ePrescribe Iowa will automate the process of writing prescriptions and transmitting them to pharmacies while alerting physicians to potentially dangerous drug-to-drug interactions, drug allergies, dosage errors and other problems that can occur when writing prescriptions on paper, according to the organizations.
